Purviz Birdie offers one-on-one consulting services to new and existing family childcare providers, centers, or to teachers in a traditional classroom setting. Services include: • Psychology of the pre-school child / Montessori philosophy explained Purviz will show you samples of forms, handbooks and newsletters for
parent communication, as well as marketing tips for prospective clients.
Suggestions for purchase of equipment, books for reading to children and
career development, and in-service conferences to attend will also be
provided.
Purviz Birdie, B.A., holds an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diploma and has over twenty years of Montessori teaching experience. She has worked with children ages 3-6 in Montessori schools in Virginia and Kansas, USA. She is a member of the American Montessori Society, Association Montessori Internationale, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), World Association of Early Childhood Educators (WAECE) and has served as a board member of the Douglas County Child Development Association in Kansas. She has led workshops and open-houses incorporating Montessori based curriculum and philosophy for early childhood professionals in traditional preschools and home based programs. In 1997, Purviz started her own program — Montessori Discovery Place. It is the only authentic, fully furnished home based Montessori preschool/childcare program in Lawrence, Kansas. Students from the Department of Education at the University of Kansas and early childhood providers frequently visit her preschool for classroom observations. Purviz Birdie offers consultation to child care providers
of preschool aged children. The Joy of Preschool Learning seminar is taught
